Doug McTaggart BEcon (Hons) MA PhD FAICD FAIM

Chief Executive

Appointed: 1998

Responsibilities: Leading the Executive Leadership team to achieve QIC's strategic and business objectives.

Previous experience: Doug has held various positions as an academic economist, finishing as Professor of Economics and Associate Dean at Bond University. Prior to joining QIC, he was the Under Treasurer and Under Secretary of the Queensland Department of Treasury.

Directorships: Doug is a Director of Suncorp Group Limited, a Director of Telesso Technologies Limited, a Councillor on the National Competition Council, a member of the Council of Australian Governments (COAG) Reform Council and a Director of the Committee for Economic Development of Australia (CEDA).

Doug is a past President of the Economic Society, Australia, and has been a member of the Australian Accounting Standards Board, a Council Member of the Queensland University of Technology and a Director (and past Chair) of the Investment & Financial Services Association (IFSA).

He has been published extensively in academic journals, is the author of several economics textbooks and holds both an Honours Degree in Economics from the Australian National University and a Masters Degree and PhD from the University of Chicago.

Adriaan Ryder

Chief Investment Officer

Appointed: 2011

Responsibilities: Adriaan supports the Chief Executive to develop and oversee market leading investment management strategies for QIC's multi-asset clients.

Previous experience: Adriaan has extensive experience in researching and developing investment strategies and solutions for institutional clients, from both asset and liability perspectives, as well as analysing and making recommendations for mergers and acquisitions.

Adriaan holds an Honours degree in Actuarial Science and is a member of several professional associations. His career has spanned across a number of countries with senior leadership roles in the asset management and financial services sectors. Adriaan also holds directorships on many pension and endowment manager investment boards for both domestic and international companies.

David Addis BCom LLB

Managing Director, Corporate Strategy

Appointed: 2011

Responsibilities: Working closely with QIC's Executive Leadership team, investment management boutiques and support teams, David has responsibility for QIC's strategic planning function.

Previous experience: David has 18 years' experience in investment banking and funds management. Immediately prior to joining QIC, he was a Director, Corporate Finance at Wilson HTM, focused on the financial services sector. Before that, he spent five years at Investec Bank where he was instrumental in establishing its Brisbane office and developing a successful mergers & acquisition business. David initially worked in the funds management industry during a seven-year period with Macquarie Bank, the last four of which were spent with Macquarie Funds Management.

David holds degrees in Commerce and Law from the University of Queensland.

Claire Blake BCom CPA FFin ACIS

Chief Financial Officer

Appointed: 2011

Responsibilities: Supporting the Chief Executive to achieve QIC's strategic and business objectives by leading and directing the Finance function, managing financial risks and providing strategic advice in relation to financial matters and profitability.

Previous experience: Claire has over 20 years of accounting experience and has held a number of finance roles within QIC. Prior to her current appointment, she was most recently QIC's Group Financial Controller.

Claire holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Queensland, is a Certified Practising Accountant and a Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australia.

Paul Leitch BA MEd MAHRI

Managing Director, Human Resources

Appointed: 2010

Responsibilities: Supporting the Chief Executive to achieve QIC's strategic and business objectives by providing leadership and direction to QIC's Human Resources function through the development and implementation of QIC's people strategy.

Previous experience: Prior to joining QIC, Paul spent five years with Mercer (Australia) Pty Ltd in a variety of roles, including most recently Regional Segment Leader for Asia Pacific in Mercer's Human Capital Practice. In this role, Paul oversaw the four delivery segments - Strategy, Talent, Rewards and Technology. Prior to joining Mercer, Paul was a senior human resources (HR) executive in the public sector where he planned and led HR services and oversaw the implementation of significant change and improvement programs.

Willie Jordaan NDCA, BCompt (Hons), ACA, CA(SA)

Chief Operating Officer

Appointed: 2011

Responsibilities: Supporting the Chief Executive to achieve QIC's strategic and business objectives by providing leadership and direction to QIC's Operations function through the development and implementation of QIC's operational strategy.

Previous experience: Willie has over 30 years of consulting and financial management experience. Prior to joining QIC, Willie spent 20 years with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), 18 of which were spent as partner in a variety of leadership roles in Australia, South Africa, Asia Pacific and PwC Global.

Before PwC, Willie had roles as Senior Audit Management at Ernst and Young, Finance Manager at General Mining South Africa (BHP) and Financial Controller at Toyota South Africa. He started his career with the South African Development Corporation, and has also lectured part-time at the University of Witwatersrand Business School for postgraduate studies (Johannesburg).

David Clarke LLB (Hons)

Managing Director of Organisational Risk and Legal

Appointed: 2009

Responsibilities: Supporting the Chief Executive to achieve QIC's strategic and business objectives by providing leadership and direction to QIC's organisational risk and legal function, through the establishment and implementation of an organisational risk framework, and enhancing the culture of responsibility and risk management within QIC.

Previous experience: David was admitted as a barrister and solicitor of the Supreme Courts of Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria in 1998. David worked in the corporate and financial services divisions of Clayton Utz in Sydney, and Linklaters in London and Tokyo, followed by four years in the Financial Services Group of Macquarie Bank in Sydney and Brisbane. David joined QIC as a senior legal advisor in 2007 and assumed the role of General Counsel in November 2008.
